Parshas Shemos ~ Burning Sneh
Hi boys and girls! Welcome back to the Parsha studio!
This week is Parshas Shemos!
In Parshas Shemos Moshe Rabeinu is a shepherd over many, many sheep, when one sheep wanders away from the rest of the flock, Moshe runs to follow that one sheep. Moshe then sees something unbelievable! A bush on fire that won’t burn down! Through this bush, Hashem speaks to Moshe.
We too can be like a burning bush! Just like the burning bush was physical we are physical people with important needs; to eat, sleep, and play. Just like the burning bush was holy with this special fire, we too were created to use our physical needs and pleasures for holy reasons. How can we do this? By inviting other kids to play with us, and by helping our parents at home, there are so many ways we can use this physical world to do what Hashem wants!
Today we will be making our very own burning bush! Not using real fire but with a cool science experiment, using Vinegar and Baking Soda. Mixing baking soda (sodium bicarbonate) and vinegar (acetic acid) creates a chemical reaction that results in the production of salt (sodium acetate) and water, along with carbon dioxide gas. Resulting in a “Sneh on Fire.”
