Sunday, April 28, 2013 the Crown Heights community will be celebrating the holiday of Lag Bomer with the Grand Lag B’Omer parade and fair.
The parade organizers and the NYPD 71st Precinct has released the following important information for all attendees.
Parking in the neighborhood:
There will be NO PARKING starting on Saturday, April 27, 2013 from 11:30 PM to Sunday April 28, 2013, 3 PM on the following blocks:
Eastern Parkway service lanes both north and south sides form Brooklyn to Albany
Albany from Eastern to President
Kingston from Eastern to Empire
President from Brooklyn to Kingston
East New York from Brooklyn to Albany
If your car is parked on any of the above blocks after midnight on Sunday April 28, 2013 it will be towed and relocated to the Kingston and Winthrop area.
Some of the blocks will be towed due to large crowd sizes expected while others will be towed for security reasons.
In addition there will be major traffic delays along Eastern Parkway.
Security during the parade:
After the recent attack in Boston the organizers of the Great Parade would like to assure everyone that security precautions have been taken to make sure that The Great Parade proceeds safely and securely. Our staff has discussed the security of the event with the NYPD chief of Brooklyn south.
The amount of police officers present will be increased, security will be bolstered, and there will be a sweep of the parkway before the event.
Here are a few guidelines to follow:
1. From Motzei Shabbos at midnight and on, all unattended personal objects on the parade grounds will be confiscated and disposed of.
2. There will be no Knapsacks or large bags permitted to the Parade route and anyone wishing to cross through will be subject to a bag check or will be redirected around the event. Large items and bags such as backpacks and suitcases will not be allowed onto the premises during the parade.
3. The police have also urged us to remind everyone to follow the guidelines, maps, and instructions that The Great Parade will be providing.
4. Finally “If you see something, say something.” Alert the security if you see any suspicious activity.

I haven’t forgotten. The MTA is not going to do that for a parade. I don’t recall them ever shutting down a station for any parades around the city.
signs are up in Brooklyn
NOT sign’s are up in Brooklyn.
it’s not possessive
Will there be a live stream?
You seem to have forgotten already what just happened in Boston. YES and again YES they most certainly SHOULD close off the station for the duration of the parade all it means is that the trains just won’t stop on kingston for those few hours. and if people are given notice it’s not the end of the world. whereas leaving it open could be….
Check your junk folder. I got mine and it was there
ALL WE NEED IS PUCTURES OF LEVI MENTZ!! CMON GET ON IT!!!! BEST PERADE DIRECTOR IN THE WORLD!!!!
You should’ve received an email but in anycase you can pick up t-shirts and wristbanda from the office at 828 eastern parkway tomorrow and Friday.
what about STROLLERS? anyone can stuff a large item the size of a knapsack (bomb) in the bottom of a stroller and cover it with a baby blanket. Will all strollers be checked too before entering the parade area? I certainly hope so.
Still didnt get email about T-shirt pickup
Unless the MTA says other wise, but do you really expect them to close one station in Brooklyn for a parade? They don’t even do that for the Labor day parade.
Can we have info of when it’ll be broadcast?
what about the kington ave train station? will it be closed off for security?
Soooo happy about the wrist band!!! Great idea!!! Thank you!!!
