Parade Takes Famous Route

Chabad activity in the Mamilla neighborhood in Jerusalem continues. This time holding the first ever Lag BaOmer Parade and Festival.

The parade, organised by the Chabad Center of Talbieh and Shliach Rabbi Eli Canterman, began outside the King David Hotel in the Talbieh neighborhood and led on to the famous Alrov Mamilla Avenue, just steps away from the Old City.

“The sparks of Rabbi Shimon bar Yochai and his students reached the walls of Jerusalem,” remarked one of the excited onlookers, who photographed the event, symbolizing the pride of Jewish Children and honor for Rashbi.

The children who excelled in a spectacular drum performance right down the exclusive outdoor mall, brought businessmen and store owners to their feet, clapping, cheering and participating in the tremendous joy of this auspicious day.

Even the security men, moved by the sight, pulled out their mobile cameras and took prime shots of the unifying parade.

A rally later took place at the ampitheatre, where the 12 pesukim were recited and Lag BaOomer songs filled the promenade.

The final destination was Mamilla park with its beautiful grounds, where the crowd was treated to incredible “dancing doll” and magic shows, accompanied by music, food stands, a grand raffle and lots of joy.

“One could almost feel the hearts of those present, joining the drumbeat in the hope of ascending just a few more steps into the courtyard of the 3rd Beis Hamikdosh to be rebuilt Bimheirah Veyamenu, Amen,” said Rabbi Canterman.
