OYYL in Crown Heights has completed their summer day camp, a transformative journey that took the students deep into the rich world of Lubavitch. Over the course of this enlightening experience, our campers had the unique opportunity to explore the profound history of Lubavitch and gain a deeper understanding of Chabad Chassidus.
Each week of the camp was dedicated to studying one of the revered Rebeim, beginning with the Baal Shem Tov and the Mezritcher Magid, and culminating with our beloved Rebbe. Through this immersive curriculum, students not only learned about these pivotal figures but also delved into the lives and contributions of various Chassidim, both past and present. They investigated the connections between these influential figures and the Rebbe, as well as the evolution of the Chabad movement from its roots in a small Belarusian town to its global presence today, through hands-on activities, engaging classroom discussions with their counselors, and creative art projects.
In addition to their academic studies, our students gained valuable insights into life in the Shtetl, including the roles of different craftsmen who played vital parts in their communities. The camp experience was further enriched by visits to farms and engaging field trips, each designed to be both enjoyable and meaningful.
We are delighted to report that the goals of the camp were not only met but exceeded. The students thrived in the stimulating environment, fully embracing the setting, Chassidishe Sipurim, trips, and educational activities. Reflecting on their experiences, they gained a deeper appreciation for Chassidishkeit, connecting with their roots and understanding the purpose of Chassidus Chabad. This newfound insight will undoubtedly guide them to deepen their Hiskashrus to our Rebeim and their guidance as they navigate their current paths and future endeavors.
As we wrap up this memorable camp, we feel confident and prepared to embark on another successful and meaningful school year. The profound lessons learned and the spirit of Chassidus instilled in our students will continue to inspire and shape their journey forward with the full revelation of True and Complete Geulah.
For the past 14 summers, Oholei Yosef Yitzchok Lubavitch has been organizing separate summer camps for preschool and elementary boys and girls from Crown Heights, each held at distinct locations. The goal of these camps is to educate local children about the rich Chabad heritage, deepening their connection to our traditions and values.
