This year’s Lag BaOmer celebration in Ottawa, organized by Rabbi Chaim and Bassy Mendelsohn, directors of Chabad of Centrepointe, was a resounding success, bringing together over 700 people from across the city in a powerful display of unity and support for Israel. The event began with a Walk for Israel, where dozens of organizations and schools marched with signs and banners, proudly expressing their solidarity with the land of Israel and the IDF.
Participants received T-shirts with “Am Yisrael Chai,” symbolizing the enduring spirit of the Jewish people. The walk set the tone for a day filled with joy and community spirit.
The festivities included a delicious BBQ, inflatable attractions, carnival games, and a unique Mitzvah Carnival focused on the Lubavitcher Rebbe’s Ten Mitzvah Campaigns. Families also enjoyed a petting zoo, a special toddler zone with various activities, cotton candy, popcorn, and so much more!
The highlight of the event was a performance by the renowned Jewish singer and rapper Nissim Black. His music and energy brought the crowd together in song and dance, creating an unforgettable atmosphere of Jewish pride and unity.
This year’s Lag BaOmer celebration in Ottawa was truly memorable, showcasing the strength and vibrancy of the community. It was a day where young and old came together joyfully and safely, celebrating their heritage and expressing their pride in being Jewish.
