Operation Survival is gearing up for the re-launch of its Success Prevention 101 series in collaboration with the Mayanei Hayeshua’s Mental Health Center in Israel.
Prevention 101 comprises questions posed by parents and educators, directed to mental health professionals.
The upcoming series will delve into the exploration of trauma and its pervasive effects on addiction and mental health, following the massacre of October 7th and the surge of global anti-Semitism. The proposed sessions aim to cover various topics, including detecting trauma, implementing preventive measures, and guiding parents in discussing these events with their children to mitigate potential trauma and its impact on factors such as substance abuse and other disorders. Additionally, preventive measures regarding what to share and how our behavior affects our children will be discussed.
Our previous questions were disseminated in video and brochure formats in Shuls and on COLlive.com, and the best questions were compiled into a Prevention 101 book. Click here for a PDF copy.
We invite community members to submit their questions to info@operationsurvival.org by Dec 29th. All questions will be asked anonymously.
Mayanei Hayeshua was founded on the belief that a growing city like Bnei Brak and its surroundings needed a hospital that caters to the local population and provides the highest professional level of medical care and compassion while upholding the principles of Jewish law.
Based on the conviction that mental illness must be treated like all other medical conditions, Mayanei Hayeshua opened the world’s first full Mental Health Center within the orthodox Jewish community, offering a range of treatments that cover every aspect of human functioning, respecting the dignity and individuality of every patient, all in a colorful, clean and cheerful environment.
The National Committee for Furtherance of Jewish Education established Operation Survival in 1988 to provide prevention services in schools in the Crown Heights area such as rap groups, family intervention, and classes for the parents of these students. The program networks with other agencies and hospitals and provides information to educators, social service and medical professionals, clergy, and community agencies.
