This coming Monday, Elul 23, will be the 23rd birthday of Chaya Mushka Hershkowitz, daughter the Chabad Shluchim in the southern Israeli city of Ofakim, who passed away this year.
A friend of the family decided to pay tribute to her memory with a unique raffle and educational campaign for Chabad girls around the world.
But only girls who are named after the Rebbe’s wife, Rebbetzin Chaya Mushka Schneerson OBM, can join.
To enter, girls will have to take upon themselves a do few extra Mitzvos in her merit, from Sunday night – Elul 12 to Monday night – Elul 13.
They are: Learning 1 Mishah, saying the Kapitlach Tehillim 23 and 24 and making one hachlata for the next year.
The prize is a flight to New York from Israel, or the equivalent (around $900) if the winner is from the U.S. or elsewhere out of Israel.
(If the winner is from Crown Heights, half of the money will go to her, and the other to a girl in Israel).
To join, email your full name, age, mother’s name, address, phone, email and which hachlata was taken to chayamoskale770@gmail.com
4 them…..
if you really want make 1 ur self…..
wat is all ur problems honestly r u so jealous?wow!!! so the people named chaya mushka will get a free ticket! end of story….good 4 them there ain’t nothing u can do about it!! tough luck to u jealous loozerzzzzzzzzzz
and if you really must, go ahead and sponsor another flight ticket for those with a different name. I am sure Chaya Muskha’s family will be delighted to add an extra prize. Too bad your feelings were hurt for being excluded from a raffle (Halacha reminder: you may not participate if you aren’t happy with doing the entrance requirements and not winning), imagine how hurt has this family been, after having to bury a young daughter. To them, our most heartfelt feelings and gratitude, for wishing to make other girls happy in the memory of theirs.
Signed: Non-Chaya-Muskha, Non-Chaimkele Mashke.
r they anouncing the winners???
To #16
Thanks for the laugh!!!!
if all you people can do is spend time on computor complaining GET A LIFE
this is in memory of chaya mushka…..so for chaya mushkas only….stop being jealouse
for their family sake……………….
Is It 13 or 23? When will be the rafle?
The name LeChaim Mashke, Chaimkel Moishke and even a Chaim Moshe(not to be confused with Moshe Chaim) is a valid name for this raffle. But Chaim Mashke or anything else is at risk of being disqualified.
How old do the girls need to be?
but why does a girl for crown heights only win half the money and the rest goes to a girl from Israel? There are plenty of girls in crown heights who could use the money or would love to go visit eretz yisroel
chf gimmel ellul is not on a monday! its on a thursday (r wednesday\!)
and to others who are against it this is just something special to remember her of course the ticket is a nice thing but thats not the main reason or at least thats not what she or her family would want. just please stop being so horrible . im sure they dont want to read all of these nasty comments after all thats happened in their family
i really appreciate this whole idea it really shows me to be gratefull with what i have
thank-you
It is a very nice idea, a wonderful way to bring alive the memory of the rebbitzen, and a great opportunity for girls who have the zchus of being named for he rebbitzen. Why must everyone be so negative and babyish about it. jealousy is a sin isnt it.
is it alriet if we r from austarlia?????
my names chaya mushka!
And if a boy is named Chaim Mashke (or lechaim mashke) may he participate?

u have a chance to be a “Chaya Mushka” by doing good things, for that will certainly enhance the world with much needed “life/vitality” and very fragrant “aromatherapy” !
err, isn’t it ALSO ruach hakodesh that “all the other girls” can’t take part? If you are so concerned, make another raffle!
A friend of the family initiated something really nice to remember a dear friend chaya mushkah. I think it’s such a beautiful idea. Why do u have to b so bitter about it? Do a mitzva in her memory instead of critisizing, it would b nice
If the baby has a living grandmother , great grandmother, or even her own mother with the name Chaya, they would have to agree that the baby could have that name. Not always does a living grandparent want a child to have their name during their lifetime. Most people consider the Mushkys of Lubavitch to be named after the Rebbitzen, regardless of any other name that they have, or don’t have.
it seems VERY odd that it’s only for chaya mushkas. as a baal teshuva i feel like you are alienating others and it just seems a bit unfair. it’s AMAZING you are doing something in this young girls memory, but it would affect a lot more people and a lot more people who take things on if it was open to everyone..

I completely agree with #5. A Bas Yisroel is a Bas Yisroel regardless what her name is. This initiative seems to challenge the Ruach Hakodesh of parents who did not name their kid Chaya Mushka after the Rebbetzin. What exactly is the point of it? To unite all Chaya Mushkas into an exclusive club? This means that only one girl per family has a chance to win.. Unless of course there is a Lubavitch family without a Chaya Mushka.. Ridiculous….
you can do a mitzva in her zchus too – -thats what its all about….
beautiful idea. people who would like can also take upon themselves to do those things in her memory even if they are not able to participate in the raffle.
against all other girls
In Sefer HaToldos Admur Maharash it says that the Mitteler Rebbe had a daughter Chaya Mushka, and he also had a daughter Chaya Sarah. So it seems that having a Chaya already in the family is not a reason not to name a girl Chaya Mushka.
i’ts ok.
hershkowits famly
Some girls are named after the rebbetzin but they already have a Chaya (sibling, mother or grandmother), so they name the baby Mushka.
beautiful idea
