For the thirtieth year, as initiated in the Mesivta Oholei Torah by their Menahel, Rabbi Zushe Wilhelm obm, 30 Talmidim of the Oholei Torah Mechina undertook to learn a whole Mesechta by heart and were tested on it B’vas Achas – all at one time – by the renowned Halachic authority, Hagaon Harav Gavriel Zinner, of Boro Park.
This year, the Talmidim in Oholei Torah Mechina learned Meseches Makois and Rabbi Zinner asked these Talmidim many questions, encompassing the entire Mesechte from beginning to end. He was very impressed by the way the Talmidim answered. In fact, one of the students answered a very deep and detailed question so clearly that Rabbi Zinner said that he tested many groups of Talmidim from many Chaddorim and Yeshivas, but such knowledge and such clarity he never saw before.
Rabbi Zinner pointed out that this project of the Talmidim learning Gemara Baal Peh and knowing it so well is a great Z’chus for Rabbi Zushe Wilhelm, a”h, as he started this project, motivating the bochurim to keep learning more and more, The Rov concluded by saying this is a special Hachana for Gimmel Tammuz to give the Rebbe lots of Nachas

I remember when I was a Bochur in 8th grade Oholei Torah we got tested on the whole Meseches Maakos by Rabbi Zushe Wilhelm obm.
So happy and proud to see that the tradition still lives on.
