U.S. Ambassador to Israel Dan Shapiro visited this week the Israel Diamond Exchange, located in Ramat Gan, near Tel Aviv, which is the world’s largest diamond exchange.
After meeting with its president Yair Sahar, the Jewish envoy asked to visit the synagogue located not far from the trading floor.
In the shul, he was greeted by its founder Rabbi Chagai Halevi, a Chabad Shliach and a board member of the diamond exchange.
Halevi, who runs the shul and Chabad House on premises, said he was “an address to all things Jewish.”
Halevi told him of Chabad’s activities with the businessmen and merchants, adding Yiddishkeit and minyanim to the workplace.
Shapiro, who is fluent in Hebrew, responded that “I’m a Shliach too,” and added, “I was send by President Barack Obama to strengthen the relationship between Israel and the United States.”
Rabbi Halevi blessed him with success in his work and gave him a dollar bill to give to charity, pointing out the motto, “In G-d We Trust.”
