Following the antisemitic murder of a Chabad Shliach in the UAE last week and the increased level of antisemitism around the world, the NYPD has added extra security coverage in the Crown Heights neighborhood during the International Kinus Hashluchim this week.
The annual gathering of Shluchim brings over 4,000 Chabad Rabbis from around the world together in Brooklyn, NY, for a weekend of inspiration, learning and camaraderie. It is taking place in Crown Heights beginning today, and running through Sunday, concluding with a gala banquet event Sunday in New Jersey.
NYPD will be out in force around Crown Heights over the next few days, with many extra officers stationed around the neighborhood, a source told COLlive. They noted that there is no specific credible threat at this time.
“Due to recent events throughout the world that affect the Jewish community, specifically the Chabad community, the 71st Precinct, Brooklyn South Borough has decided to deploy more resources to the Kinus this year,” NYPD Sergeant Mike Baratta of the 71st Precinct in Crown Heights told COLlive.com. “That includes extra community affairs coverage, extra counter-terrorism coverage, and some heavy weapons teams,” he said.
Honorary NYPD Commissioner of Community Safety Devorah Halberstam said, “Our community is very grateful to the NYPD for the additional coverage and paying attention to every detail, including counter-terrorism, plainclothes police officers, and uniformed officers from different units throughout the entire neighborhood and keeping a close watch as the convention approaches and continues over the weekend.”

Thank you very much to the NYPD. You are all truly kind thank you so much for everything you do for Crown Heights community and God bless each and everyone of you and God bless the USA
