New York City Council Speaker and members received the latest report of its Digital Terrorism and Hate Project published by the Simon Wiesenthal Center’s Research Department as the world commemorated Holocaust Remembrance Day (Yom HaShoah) on April 28, 2022.
Presenting it were Rabbi Abraham Cooper, Associate Dean and Director of Global Social Action for the Simon Wiesenthal Center and Michael Cohen, Eastern Director, were joined by Rabbi Eli Cohen of Crown Heights Jewish Community Council.
The annual interactive report highlights the promotion of online extremism, hate and antisemitism. The project explores how the internet is used by extremists to promote their ideologies and recruit individuals, often on the cutting edge of digital advances. Reports are shared with law enforcement, educators, and elected officials.
NYC Council Speaker Adrienne Adams and the other members of the Council, spoke at New York City Hall about the dangers of hate speech, especially as the city has seen a sharp rise in antisemitic incidents.
