A Hachnosas Sefer Torah was held at Ohel Devorah Beis Chabad in Melbourne, Australia on Sunday.
The Sefer Torah was written in honor and memory of R’ Tzvi and Itty Ainsworth A’H who tragically passed away 14 Tammuz 5781, June 24, 2021 in the Surfside building collapse, by their loving children and grandchildren. Ohel Devorah is the shul that R’ Tzvi A’H davened and learned while in Melbourne.
The writing of the Torah was started in Melbourne Australia at R’ Tzvi and Itty Ainsworth’s Shloshim and was completed in time for their grandson Mati Ainsworth’s Bar Mitzvah.
Mati was the first to read from the new Torah this past Shabbos Parshas Ki Tavo, in honor of his Bar Mitzvah.
This was the second Torah written in their memory. The first Torah was started by their children during the shiva in Miami, Florida, with the Hachnosas Sefer Torah held in Miami on the day after their first Yahrzeit, Tes Vov Tammuz.
The Ainsworth siblings and many relatives traveled from the USA, South Africa, and Sydney to be there together, and take part in the Bar Mitzva and Sefer Torah celebrations.
Rabbi Chaim Tzvi Groner, the Rabbi of Ohel Devorah Bais Chabad led the Hakofos. Rabbi Yosef Chaim Kantor, a close friend of the family, came from Thailand to participate in the bar mitzvah and Torah celebration.
Over 400 Jews from all over Melbourne came together and joined in the joyous event. There was live music, food, and entertainment for the children, for a full morning of true joy and Simcha.
May this new Torah bring comfort, health and brochos to the family, and most importantly may this Torah be in the parade to greet Moshiach Tsidkenu immediately now.

Im sure Tzvi & Itty are smiling down from Shomayim!
The Siyum Sefer Torah was a very fitting tribute to the warm caring people Tzvi and Itty Ainsworth were. Tzvi always had a kind word to share and Itty genuinely cared about others.
They surely are very proud of their children and grandchildren who are following in their ways.
