New Shluchim to Maine

Rabbi Chaim and Esther Wilansky (nee Polter) and their son Mendel will be moving on Shlichus this week to Bangor, Maine.

They will be establishing the first Chabad House in northern Maine to service the spiritual needs of the local Jewish population, as well as the Jewish visitors to Acadia National Park. Additionally they will be involved with the Jewish students at The University of Maine.

Approximately 2,000 Jews live in the Bangor area. Acadia, only forty five miles north of Bangor, attracts over two million tourists from mid-April through October, among them many Jews.

Having grown up on Shlichus in Portland, Maine and Acton, Massachusetts, Rabbi Chaim and Esther are enthusiastic to return to New England as Shluchim. They visited Bangor and feel that there is much potential for Jewish growth.

With the Rebbe’s inspiration and guidance, the Wilanskys look forward to sharing the beauty of Torah and Mitzvos with the Jews of Northern Maine. They are excited to begin their Shlichus with the busy High Holiday season coming up.

The new Shluchim were appointed by the Head Shliach of Maine, Rabbi Moshe Wilansky.
