An unfinished entry the Rebbe wrote in one of his notebooks, known as his reshimos journals, is being published this week for Chabad chassidim and Torah learners.
“This is a beginning of a note by the Rebbe about Shabbos Mevarchim that he did not finish writing,” said Lahak, publishers of the Rebbe’s teachings.
The hand-written notes fill half of a looseleaf paper with three hole punches. It does not indicate when or where it was written.
The notes explain the idea of the Shabbos when the new month is blessed, that it is a commemoration of the sanctifying of the month in the times of the Beis Hamikdash after 2 witnesses saw the moon.
The Rebbe continues to explain how it applied to daily practices (“inyanoy ba’avoda”) as the Jewish people have been compared to the moon.
The reshima will be published in this week’s edition of the Hisva’adus booklet in connection with the yahrtzeit of Rebbetzin Chaya Mushka Schneerson OBM and the Kinus Hashluchos convention.
Entries in these journals date between the years 1928, the year of the Rebbe’s marriage, and 1950, the year of his father-in-law’s passing, which was followed by his assumption of the leadership of the Chabad-Lubavitch movement, Chabad.org pointed out.
Throughout these years – which included his evacuation from Berlin in 1933, his escape from Nazi-occupied Paris in 1941 and his subsequent wanderings as a refugee in Vichy France and Fascist Spain – the Rebbe kept these notebooks with him at all times, jotting down the scholarly and sublime products of his phenomenal mind.
The newly released reshima was prepared for publication by the team of scholars at Lahak, offering possible explanations to what the Rebbe intended to bring out in his notes.
