The newly introduced Smicha program at Yeshivas Bais Schneur catered primarily for ages 18-21 emphasizes a well-rounded curriculum that includes traditional studies such as Gemara (Talmud), Halacha (Jewish law) and Chassidus, alongside essential life skills training. The program uniquely incorporates workshops on relationship building, financial management, and household management, all taught from a Torah perspective.
The Smicha program based in North Miami Beach has recently teamed up with Ziv Tamir, founder and CEO of TEST Business school.
“I’m happy to announce a huge step forward in preparing the next generation of Bochurim with vital life skills,” says Rabbi Mendel Sasson, founder and director of Bais Schneur. “This is an opportunity of a lifetime giving them real life experiential education essential for running and managing any career. This experience will provide a Bochur the proper prep for the business world teaching the common skills they will need in any industry like sales, PR, marketing, social media, AI, monitoring the market etc. The Bochurim will also have an opportunity to open a business partnership and begin to earn Money.
TEST was established by Ziv Tamir and his wife Nitzy, co-owners of Rocks on Clocks (RocksOnClocks.com), an online seller of preowned and new-unused watches like Rolex, Patek, and AP as well as signed jewelry like Cartier Love Brace and GIA certified diamonds.
Ziv Tamir’s great-grandfather ran a trade school in his native country of Yemen which gave Ziv the idea to do the same in the USA.
TEST teaches students the insider secrets of buying, selling, and trading luxury watches, diamonds, and jewelry. “We teach everything from how to open a business, become an entrepreneur, and how to think in a certain way,” says Tamir.
“They learn through working,” says Tamir, who was honored with his wife with the “Lubavitch Educational Center’s Founders Award” in 2013.
Tamir says he discussed the idea of the program with Rabbi Leibel Schapiro, Rosh Yeshiva Gedola of Greater Miami and Rabbi of Congregation Beis Menachem in Miami Beach, and Rabbi Schapiro said that he welcomes students of Test to call with questions relating to masser and halacha.
Rabbi Schapiro also pointed out that, “The Rambam says that teaching someone a trade is the highest level of tzedakah,” says Tamir.
Additionally, the program emphasizes the importance of Emunah and Bitachon in the business world, he says. Many parents entrust Tamir with their teenagers, knowing that their children will be in an atmosphere of emunah. Tamir encourages students to attend minyan and don tefillin on a daily basis.
While most other dealers of luxury items teach trade secrets to only their close family members, Tamir is happy to share his background knowledge with all TEST students. “Ever since I became an expert in high-end watches,” he says, “I’ve wanted to teach others the business.” Students learn the trade of selling and trading watches, diamonds, and high-end jewelry.
The Program is Scheduled to launch Rosh Chodesh Cheshvon.
