With many camps closed because of government restrictions due to the coronavirus pandemic, a new overnight camp for boys will open in Georgia this summer.
Camp Machaneh Tzeirei Chassidim, directed by Rabbi Zalmen Shimon Itkin from Boynton Beach, Florida, will be opening in Clayton, Georgia, for the 2020 summer season.
The camp’s mission is to “create a camp atmosphere infused with the warmth of Yiddishkeit and Chassidishkeit that will last long after they leave the campgrounds,” Rabbi Itkin says.
“We feel strongly about the Chinuch of our boys during the summer months,” he says. “We, therefore, set out to provide that which was lacking.”
The camp is for boys in 4th through 6th grades, as well as a separate 7th grade division.
The camp will be led by Rabbi Zalmen Shimon Itkin and Rabbi Yitzchok Itkin, Shliach to Kansas City, Missouri who will serve as an advisor to the staff, as well as help facilitate the daily operations.
The Main Division Head Staff are Levik Gourarie, Sholem Kalmenson and Levi Schtroks.
The 7th Grade Division Head Staff are Dovid Geisinsky, Muleh Itkin and Yankel Oster.
“All of our head staff have prior camp experience in either Montreal, Parksville or YKK camps,” Rabbi Itkin says. “They are committed to bringing their expertise to MTC and are ready for a spectacular summer!”
The camp will be located on the picturesque Blue Ridge Camp Grounds in Clayton, Georgia, and boasts a large swimming pool, beautiful lake, 50 ft. Rock Climbing Tower, Miniature Golf and more.
The staff will receive training with Rabbi Zalmy Kudan, an experienced camp director, who will conduct an extensive staff training for all staff members prior to camp.
The camp will be providing a bus from the NY and Miami areas to transport campers to camp, and they strongly encourage campers from those areas to travel by bus. They will also advise regarding airports and timing for those who need to fly, they said.
The tuition for the full 6-week session is as follows:
$3400 for Main Division – 4th, 5th, and 6th grade boys.
$3700 for 7th Grade Division.
There is a $350 non-refundable deposit should your son be accepted.
Limited scholarships are available. You may fill out the scholarship form during the application process.
Registration is open at Campmtc.com.

If your son is interested in a staff position in camp, please have him email headstaff@campmtc.com .

Why so many boys camps opening but no girls camps?
Nice! Now we need some backup plans for the girls camps. Thank you to all the trailblazers taking it upon themselves to make camps happen this summer.
Sure you will make an Amayzing Camp knowing a lot of the head staff !!!
Lots of overnight camps opening up to fill the void. I’ve seen plenty of plans to avoid infections, but I’ve yet to see a contingency plan for what they’ll do if infections do occur in camp. Does anyone have any insight?
Levi Strochs & Tzviki Pruss are the best! Lucky kids who get to spend the summer with them! Best counselors & BMD years ever! This summer will rock.
From a parksville camper 🙂
