An indeterminate Bais Medrash for Anash in Crown Heights that has been operating out of various locations will finally be housed in a more permanent location set to open this coming month.
Yagdil Torah, a non profit promoting learning Torah, is renting the ground floor of a private house at 574 Empire Boulevard for its Heichal Halimud Center for Torah Learning.
Located in the heart of Crown Heights, Heichal Halimud is a center wholly dedicated to the advancement of Torah study within our community.
Equipped with an extensive Seforim library and a “comfortable atmosphere,” Heichal Halimud will be the perfect venue for chavrusa learning, personal study and small shiurim.
The Bais Medrash is being dedicated by the Barber family in loving memory of their father R’ Yitzchak ben R’ Eliyahu OBM, and by Chabad philanthropist David Slager and family.
“Inspired by the Rebbe’s Mivtzah Torah campaign, we set out to provide a sanctuary for Anash to sit and learn Torah at leisure,” Yagdil Director Rabbi Levi Browd said.
“As we all know, Limmud Torah is paramount for a strong foundation in both Yiddishkeit and Chassidishkeit.”
The inauguration ceremony and ribbon cutting will take place Sunday, August 15 at 5 PM. It will include a line-up of prominent speakers, a tour of the new establishment, and a time to honor those who have made a significant effort to make this dream a reality.
Rabbi Yosef Heller, a a senior Rov in Crown Heights, commended the initiative. “There must be a place for people to learn at all times,” he was quoted in a press release.

How appropriate – To have a Beis Medrash in the memory of R’ Yitzchok Barber, someone whom T’Fila B’tzibur and Shiurim meant so much to.

A Bies Hamedrosh with it’s own quiet Minyan great!! now we will have Torah V’avodoh together as it needs to be. Only someone as talented as Reb Levi Browd make us proud.
the place is quite large – especially because the homes on that block are longer
Is there anything like this for women?? I am always looking for a place to learn…770 is a bit too happening.
Weren’t they supposed to take the place on top of Chevra Shas on Kingston corner Montgomery?
Beautiful! Thank you! yagdil Torah vYadir!
He needs a bigger place… to start off so small is not good..
a true asset to the community
They have built a vast amount of programs and now they have their own place. I hope other organizations follow their path
Thanks to Barber and Slager – we in Crown Heights all appreciate this
