Four hundred students at Beis Medrash Oholei Torah were honored by a visit from Rabbi Kalman Meir Ber, the newly appointed Ashkenazi Chief Rabbi of Israel. The Chief Rabbi congratulated the students on their privilege to learn in the Rebbe’s Yeshiva, emphasizing that the Rebbe was watching over them and praying for their growth.
During his visit, the Chief Rabbi delivered a thought-provoking lecture on recurring themes in bentching and davening, offering original insights into questions raised by his ancestor, Reb Akiva Eiger, as well as a query from Reb Chaim Brisker’s class transcripts.
He also shared personal stories about the emotional impact of the ongoing war in Eretz Yisrael, including his interactions with the families of those still held captive in Gaza. The Chief Rabbi’s heartfelt words deeply resonated with the bochrim, reminding them that their intensified learning directly contributes to the success of Eretz Yisrael’s battles, much like the learning of Dovid Hamelech supported his generals in the field.
Accompanying the Chief Rabbi was Rabbi Shmuel Bistritzky, Shliach to Savyon, Eretz Yisroel, who introduced the Chief Rabbi to the students and reminisced fondly about his own time learning at Beis Medrash Oholei Torah.
