With security and financial challenges at his doorstep, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu made the time this week to honor the man who has deeply influenced him: The Lubavitcher Rebbe.
Netanyahu welcomed this week the top brass of COL.org.il, the largest Chabad Hebrew news website, for an exclusive interview and pre-Passover reception, in the cabinet room in his office in Jerusalem.
Meeting him were R’ Mulik Rivkin and his son Yossi Rivkin, owner of COL Hebrew and a partner in community news outlet COLlive.com, and Menachem Cohen, editor of COL Hebrew.
During the rare interview, as the Prime Minister does not regularly grant one-on-ones to Israeli media, Netanyahu spoke about the Rebbe’s most unique stature and contribution to world Jewry.
The Prime Minister was then presented with a box of Shmura Matzah for Pesach and a new Haggadah with commentaries from the Rebbe.
“Chabad always reminds everyone about the upcoming holidays,” Netanyahu commented and noted, “I will give this to Avner. From here – straight to Avner,” he said, in reference to his son, who is observant.
Seeing the long-time activist Mulik Rivkin handing out Haggadas to the staff of the Prime Minister’s Office, Netanyahu told him, “You are eternally young.”
“When Mr. Netanyahu spoke about the Rebbe, his eyes sparkled and he did not hide his passion,” Cohen said about the interview, which will be aired Thursday.
meanwhile, back in Hevron… the orders were given to officially break and enter and expel. nice.
We are more important!
As the Rebbe always says: every thought, deed and action can bring salvation to the whole world.
r we the president of israel?
You meet the Prime Minister and you dont put on a tie??
thanks
many lubavitchers also say alot & do a little…
A yarmulke too vilste??
Where is his yarmulke?
Why did they not question him to why he does not follow the Rebbe’s directives on shleimus haaretz & not entering into any dialouge with the arabs?
Mr. Netanyahu is a man of extreme brilliance. He knows exactly when and why things should be done.
Cheers for the PM of Israel!
You guys are great. Your COL Website is so user friendly it is unreal… Big pix are worth a million words. Ysher Koach… biz 120.
Unfortunately, he follows orders from the failed ex PM of Labor.
Just today he evacuted a home purchased by Jews in chevron with the opposition of most of his ministers.
