Thirty Beis Din cases were presented to the Yungeleit of the Kolel L’horaah Ma’asis of Crown Heights, in the form of a written test and an oral test.
The last 4 months in Kolel were spent on studying all the Halachos of disputes between neighbors, between stores, construction, noise, competition, and the rights of the parties.
The study curriculum included the Tur and Shulchan Aruch with all the Meforshim, and various responsa from the Acharonim about these topics.
After concluding the study and Chazara, the Yungeleit received a written test today (Thursday) which included twenty two Beis Din cases of such disputes, with each Yungerman getting one “case” on which he must write a Halachic dissertation, explaining the Halachic standing of each party, and what should be the Psak.
The Yungeleit also had an oral test with Rabbi Daniel Haramati, Dayan and Menahel of the Beis Din of the Vaad HaRabonim of Queens, who presented additional cases, with the Yungeleit participating in lively discussions on what the different Halachic opinions are, and what the Psak should be.
The Kolel, now in its fourth highly-successful year, is studying monetary Halachos in the morning Seder (Choshen Mishpat), and Gett Halachos in the afternoon Seder. A similar written test was prepared last week for the Gett Halachos. The Kolel is led by Rabbi Shloimy Greenwald – Menahel, Rabbi Sholom Shuchat – Rosh Kolel and Rabbi Shraga Homnick – Sgan Rosh Kolel.

Will the Shiurim of R’ Shuchat and R’ Homnick be posted again soon?
