LA’s number one morning show featured Ron Artest, a professional basketball player with the Los Angeles Lakers in the NBA, on Wednesday, shooting hoops for Chabad.
Sponsored by the very philanthropic Shlomo Rechnitz of TwinMed, each shot made resulted in a $1000 donation to Chabad.
Artest, known as one of the NBA’s premiere defensive players, felt lucky to be a part of it. “If i can come out and use my skills to help raise money for a charity, that’s G-d shining his light through me,” he said.
Artest managed to hit 29 free throws in 60 seconds, netting Chabad a $29,000 donation.
“We’re just putting the fun in fundraising” said Chaim Marcus, producer of the event.
go artest!!!
Nice to see him….
Not singlehandedly. He had Shane Battier – who is as good defensively as him if not better – and who was assigned to guard Kobe. And Louis Scola had some awesome games too. Overachieved, but still…
first goes bryant
is a fringe NBA player at best…..ron artest is one of the best defensive players who single handidly took the rockets to the western conf finals.
GO RAPTORS!
Farmar will be at the telethone live on Sunday
we want to see omei kaspi first israeli nba player ever, and hes on the kings so its in cali.
thats really cool that they got him (even though he never played for LA yet)
y dont they get koby
Do you guys always need to find someting to criticize? You don’t need to be Jewish to do good deeds and “make a kiddush Hashem”. The telethon has many non-Jews contribute to their cause. Ron Artest is an NBA star (Farmar is a backup), and he wants to help. If Farmar wants to help, he can too. No one is stopping him.
jordan farmar? hello he’s the kiddush hashem, not this guy
