While the Chabad center in Mumbai is attacked by terrorists, a Lubavitch activist is promising to continue the weekly Shabbos prayers and meals.
Rabbi Gavriel and Rivkah Holtzberg, Directors of Chabad of Mumbai who are now held hostage, were known for hosting hundreds of Israeli and Jewish backpackers every Shabbos. They had a special cook who used to help with the preparations.
And this week will be no different, says Rabbi Dovber Goldberg, an activist in the Indian city of Goa who traveled to Mumbai to assist with the crisis.
In a phone conversation with COLlive, Goldberg said: “We are planing to host a Shabbos meal for 40 Israelis, including the parents of the Shliach Mrs. Holtzberg who arrived last night.”
He added that he will also be hosting two Israelis who managed to escape one of the terrorist targets.”
Asked where the Shabbos events will take place, Goldberg answered: “We got an instruction from the Indian police and the Israeli embassy not to detail the exact location – because the Chabad House is a target for terror.”
He also refused answering some of the questions, due to extra security measures. “The situation is very sensitive and we were asked not to be talkative.”
when will mosach come
Kol Hakavod Dobeer and Cherna! Such Mesiras Nefesh, I am praying for you and Lily.
what will be? This is such an unfathomable tragedy, but we must go on.
We will never let them get us down.
In such a hard time,,, the hardest time to believe ,Chabad Lubavitch is going against all odds to sanctify the shabbos.
It is unbeleivable.
May we only hear good news .
We will all be praying for their safety. I hope they have captured all the terrorists and they will not C”V be harmed.

My heart goes out to them. what they must be going through! May Hashem give them strength to cope with this.
These people are amazing, such mesiras nefesh. On CNN they are reporting terrible riots going on, it is obviously extremely dangerous now there. Yet Chabad perseveres.
