Mrs. Sylvia Ivry, a beloved wife, mother and grandmother from Crown Heights, passed away on Thursday, 29 Nissan, 5783.
She was 82.
Sylvia was a well-known Baalas Chesed in Crown Heights. She had an open home and hosted many guests, especially visitors from France and Israel.
She volunteered often for the Bikur Cholim and Lubavitch Women’s Organization, visiting nursing homes and always helping people in need.
She is survived by her husband, R’ Yosef David Ivry and children, Uri Yitzchak (Crown Heights), Michael Yehuda (Five Towns), Batya Yocheved Friedman, Yochanan Chaim (Staten Island), Ilan Avraham, and Naftali Yisrael, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
The levaya will take place today (Thursday) 12:30 pm at Shomrei Hachomos, 982 39th St, Brooklyn, NY.
1:00pm – The levaya will pass by her home at 1365 Carroll St – corner of Kingston and Carroll St.
1:15pm – The levaya will pass by 770
The kevurah will be at Eretz Hachayim cemetery in Israel on Friday 1:15pm.

Mrs Ivry opened her home and her heart. Always positive and a giving person.
I remember her from the daycare center on crown st making the lunch for the kids & staff.
Whenever she saw me on the avenue she always asked how’s everyone. She was so kind to everyone always had a smile
Sylvia was full of life and optimism. She was funny, lovely, wise and caring

Last year we were in The Haym Salomon Re-Hab together, where we got to know each other.
Sylvia cared. REALLY cared. I remember one evening I was upset at the situation in my home I walked out of my apartment and starting walking towards Carroll. Mrs. Ivry was getting in her car and saw me. She looked at me and asked how I was. She saw the tears in my eyes and said “come in my car lets talk” She told me to not worry things will get better etc etc.
I’m so sorry, I accidentally downgraded this comment and I didn’t mean to but it seems like I can’t undo that!

Boruch Dayan haemes what s tzadekes she was in her own way. Always happy to meet people as lvry with a smile to me. Always helpful to my neighbors. Very caring to all. Willing to drive prople to places if she could all I know is she accomplished her Tafkid to the highest degree and hashem needed her now with the rebbe to bring Moshiach asap right now!!!we need to emulate her ahavas yisroel and achdus with each other. I was SO sorry to hear about this great loss. I didn’t know Silvia well but I met her several times and had some lovely discussions with her.
There are some people you don’t have to know well to know that they’re magical. Silvia was one such person. One thing I do know unequivocally is that she had a tremendous love for her family and her friends. Please take solace in that.
