Oy so sad!!
I was in my early 20’s when I met Shaina Gittel, what a sweet person always a smile and a kind word, she used to make a meal after a specific fast don’t remember which one but she always made people feel comfortable, she kindly invited me to come join in the seuda, I was so happy because I was very hungry. She was a really special person! BDE, may her family be truly comforted!
So sorry for your loss
Someone who has such good memories of the summer in camp emuna a million years ago

I worked with her in Shalom Center, the nicest lady and we stayed friends for many years. We loved you, Mrs. Astrin..

BDE…Shena Gitel was passionately proactive in assisting those in need around her…As my former neighbor, I saw her concerns and desire to include and get to know others…
Many years later, while visiting CH and looking for a place to rent, she refused to rent to us and took us in her own space upstairs with her open heart….
Her respect and thirst for the teachings of Torah Chassidus and knowing the Shulchan Aruch werr remarkable…
She wanted to know and understand to great lenghth….
She spread warmth and joy around her….
Sheina Gittel was such a gracious, refined, intelligent, giving, sincerely frum, and warm woman who always was ready to laugh. Our community has lost a very exceptional person.
A wonderful, cheerful, truly good woman, an asset to the community. She hosted the Women’s friday night oneg shabbos torah study group every year, she also actively assisted with the women’s mivtzoim group, and probably much more that I don’t know about.. I had the pleasure of a Shabbos meal with her once or twice in her home, just me and her, it was delightful spending time with her and talking. May her neshoma have yiddishe, chasidishe nachas from her children and einiklach.
Sheina Gitel tutored my son many years ago in English. Since he was attending a school which did not have an English curriculum, he was lacking many skills. When we later moved, and he was attending a school which provided a secular education, he was accepted into his grade level. This was a testament to her excellent teaching.
