People of various ages stood today in front of a private home on Montgomery Street in Crown Heights eagerly waiting to receive a carton box filled with frozen and basic commodities.
The annual distribution of foods for Pesach is directed by Mrs. Devorah Scheiner with the help of her friend Leah Gorodetsky and resourceful grandson Mendel Brafman.
Several hundred packages of poultry and meat made their way out of a truck and were generously handed to families and elderly who can use some help. Bottles of wine were included as well.
Scheiner estimated the goods equaled $30,000.
“I started this 20 years ago when I raised money for groceries for a needy family,” she told COLlive. “I saw the need – many families can’t make ends meet.”
Goods are distributed before Rosh Hashana, Chanukah, Pesach and Shavuos. A shoe fund is available as well.

Since then, I keep hearing about the wonderful things you do, and I only wish for you that Hashem give u the Koach you need to continue to do things in the… Read more »
