Mrs. Sara Deitsch, matriarch of a large lubavitch family and wife of R’ Dovid Shlomo Deitsch obm, a major patron of Oholei Torah schools, passed away Monday, 6 Cheshvan 5773.
She ws 97.
R’ Dovid and Sara Deitsch, fondly known as the “Tatte and Mameh of Oholei Torah,” were partners in the founding of Oholei Torah schools, the Chabad flagship school for boys.
Working with Rabbi Michoel Teitelbaum, who served as Oholei Torah’s executive director, R’ Dovid Deitsch became Chairman of the Board. Together, with all the passion, drive and painstaking commitment involved in such an undertaking, they built Oholei Torah from the ground up, nurturing its every step.
R’ Dovid and Sara lived in New Haven, Connecticut, where they were active in the community. The Yeshiva Gedolah of New Haven was started in their home in 1976, and Mrs. Deitsch fed, housed and nurtured the bochurim of the Yeshiva.
Her husband passed away in 2002.
She is survived by her children: Mordechai Deitsch (New Haven), Yosef Deitsch (New Haven), Rochel Sandman (New Haven), Ella Zeiler (Kiryat Milachi), and Chana Devorah Pinson (Crown Heights), and many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
The levaya will leave from Shomrei Hadas at approximately 2:00 pm, passing by 770 at 2:30 pm.

Mrs. Sara Deitsch was a very special person. She was a big Baalas Chesed, warm and caring and a true friend.Her-beautiful smile and warm welcome will be missed. May her memory always serve as a great inspiration for her children, grand-children and great- grand-children. May Hashem grant the family only simchas from here on.
