Mrs. Angie Levin, a longtime member of the Long Beach, California, Chabad community, known affectionately as “the Challah Lady,” passed away suddenly on Thursday, 16 Shvat, 5778.
She was 79.
Mrs. Levin was known to most people as “Bubby” or “The Challah Lady,” serving as baker and cook in the Long Beach community. She made the challah dough for Gan Israel Day Camp in Long Beach for over 30 years.
Her husband was the original Long Beach community baker, and she took over this position after his passing.
She is survived by her children Heidi Turner (Chicago), Gretchen Dagal (California), Shoshana Yarmak (Crown Heights), and Michal Korf (Miami Beach).
The levaya took place on Friday in Long Beach, California.
The family will be sitting Shiva in California until Monday and then each one will be flying back to their homes to sit for the remaining time.

I remember hoshana raba night before shmini atseres she would be up cooking and baking for the kidushim the whole night while the men said tehilim.
What a sweet lady we will miss you but it won’t be long we will be together by the big simcha with moshiach tzidkeinu. A family friend

My grandmother was a woman of essence. She was solely dedicated to her community, her work, and most of all her family. Anything she gave mind too she did with a whole heart.
