Rabbi Yisroel Bernath has found that by helping people explore their own attitudes towards marriage and dating, he can dramatically increase people’s chances of success.
“When singles are willing to get uncomfortable and really confront their own beliefs, assumptions and prejudices, then they are moving in the right direction,” says Bernath, Director of Chabad NDG & Loyola Campus in Montreal, Canada.
Bernath stars in the new documentary “Kosher Love,” a thought-provoking look at love and relationships in the Orthodox Jewish World by Academy award winning producer Frederic Bohbot.
Bernath will screen the film as part of a special weekend for single men and women associated with Chabad centers organized under the auspices of Chabad Shabbaton Weekends in Crown Heights.
Taking place over March 17-19, Bernath will be leading workshops for marriage-minded singles of all ages who want an immersive experience that will transform their approach to dating and marriage.
“He will be helping you identify what it is that you are really looking for in a spouse, what your goals for marriage are, and how to bridge the gap between what you think you want and what you really want,” organizers said.
He will be joined by his mother, Mrs. Rivka Leah Bernath who runs the Chicago Shidduch Group and is a self-proclaimed obsessor over all matters related to shidduchim.
Mrs. Bernath will be running workshops taking a look at the spiritual approach to marriage and will also be providing practical tools to help get you there.
Through facilitated discussion, questionnaires and one-on-one sessions the Shabbaton promises to be a raw, real and eye-opening experience. Organizers said it will be a chance to truly re-evaluate your beliefs and explore what it is that you really want in a safe space.
