A Shabbos that will be remembered!
Last week, a group of men and women from Chabad of Barrington RI, led by their Shluchim Rabbi Moishe and Mirel Laufer joined together with a group from Chabad of Tysons, VA and their Shluchim Rabbi Chessy and Leah Deitsch, to spend an inspiring Shabbos in Crown Heights.
“It left a lasting effect on every person in the group,” say the Shluchim, thanks to Anash and the Mosdos in Crown Heights, and the Shabbaton office of the Lubavitch Youth Organization, who helped organize the weekend.
“There is so much to do on a Shabbaton to Crown Heights, with every part leaving a strong effect on the group” said the Shluchim.
The weekend began with a brief overview about the Rebbe, Chabad, and life in Crown Heights by Rabbi Berel Epstein of the Chassidic Walking Tours, – who answered many of the questions that members of the group had before they were even asked – And included a visit to the Rebbe’s room with an introduction by Rabbi Levi Garelik; tour of the Crown Heights women’s Mikvah with Mrs. Dina Rosenfeld; an in-depth Chassidus shiur taught by Rabbi Mendy Wolf, which covered some of the basic foundations of Chabad Chassidus; and a lively discussion about the topic of Davening with Rabbi Dovid Sholom Pape.
Davening in 770 Friday night and Shabbos day, together with thousands of other Chasidim, left a strong impact on the members of the group. The Shabbos afternoon meal was hosted by Mrs. Cyrel Deitsch, during which the Shluchim farbrenged and many members of the group shared some of their inspiring thoughts about their visit, lasted until late in the afternoon.
A lavish Shalosh Seudos was prepared at the home of the Rosenfelds, where Rabbi Mordechai Dinerman led an inspirational Seder Nigunim together with other members of Anash.
The Shabbaton concluded Sunday with a trip to the Rebbe’s Ohel, where many of the participants took upon themselves positive commitments in many areas of Torah and Mitzvos. Following the Ohel, they made a quick stop at the Sofer – were Rabbi Yaakov Banon explained the process of the making of Sta”m, and visited the Jewish Children’s Museum where our group saw firsthand how Chabad brings Yiddishkit to life.
“They were very touched by the warm hospitality they received from their hosts,” say the Shluchim, who are very thankful to the members of the community who opened their homes to host their group and to the many members of Anash and Mosdos who helped make this Shabbaton a success.
