While Rabbi Efraim and Chanie Zaltzman assist their neighbors in the hard hit Brighton Beach area including people stranded on their 20…something floor apartment without electricity or running water since Monday night, they’re trying to recover from their own devastation.
Hurricane Sandy flooded their finished elevated basement which four of their children used as their residence with five feet of water.
Rabbi Efraim Zaltzman’s office and study was also destroyed. The children’s clothing and belongings, new furniture, many sforim, games and toys and sentimental items were destroyed. The Zaltzmans are thus misplaced from their home which served as one of the locals of the Chabad activities and are staying with family for now.
B”H the Shul Young Israel of Brighton Beach where Efraim Zaltzman serves as Rabbi did not have extensive damage due to its being under renovation.
To help the Zaltzmans in their Shlichus and specifically in the current situation please make a tax deductable contribution here, or you can send a check to chabad of Kingsborough 33 Manhattan Ct. Brooklyn NY 11223 your donation is greatly appreciated
So far $70,000 has been provided to 20 different Shluchim.
Donations can be made at http://www.jewishhurricanerelief.com.
