A Brooklyn woman has filed a lawsuit against General Mills, accusing the food giant of making misleading health claims about the popular kid snack Fruit Roll-Ups.
In the class action filed Tuesday in Manhattan Federal Court, Payton McClure says the company lies when it says the rollups, along with Fruit by the Foot and Fruit Gushers, are naturally flavored, low fat, and “a good source of Vitamin C.”
“Unfortunately for consumers and, including children, all these claims are false and misleading,” the $5 million suit says.
Court papers say General Mills failed to note on packaging that it uses partially hydrogenated oil in the snacks, which the lawsuit says is “dangerous” and “unhealthy.”
McClure could not be reached for comment and the law firm representing her did not return calls.
A spokeswoman for General Mills said the company has not yet been served the lawsuit and declined comment.
My dentist told me a long time ago that the reason my kids were getting lots of cavities was becasue they were eating fruit roll-ups and the like. I stopped giveing it to them and – no more cavities! So, I’d like to join the lawsuit – those fillings were expenseive!!!

I’m pretty sure anyone can file a suit about anything they want…the question is only if it will get anywhere…and if this does get anywhere (which I doubt) we Americans have a big problem….
fruit rollups are pure garbage we give them to our kids to bribe them to behave maybe i can sue america its streets are suppose to be paved in gold or the garbage bag companies that claim thier tuff bags stong as oxen come on can she realy be that retiarted or is cash all its about hay were all strapped but finding claims to sue in your food pantry is crazy get an extra job or buy no fruit roll ups

Being a class action means that everyone that bought these, could be included in this suit and take their part (normally the minimal cost)
