In an effort to promote the Pesach Mivtzoim and in honor of Yud Aleph Nissan, each year the Chicago bochurim who return home from Yeshiva, work with Lubavitch Chabad of Illinois to organize a grand Mitzvah Tank Parade.
This past Thursday, 8 Nissan, a beautiful parade was coordinated by Yehuda Glaser with the help of Mendy Lubin, Ephraim Zimmerman, Schneur Hecht and Itche Schanowitz who drove in from New York to assist with the parade.
Loaded with packages of Matzos and the beautiful Pesach magazine “Illuminating Illinois” eleven Tanks led by Illinois’ permanent Mivtza Tank, paraded throughout Chicago escorted by the Cook County Sheriff’s police, and then stationed themselves in popular locations.
In an effort to advertise Pesach even more, each Tankist was outfitted with a beautiful shirt with the caption “Got Matzo? – Celebrate Passover”. This new twist to Mivtza Matzo brought smiles to all the passerby, who eagerly accepted the Matzo packages and many of whom put on Tefillin.
Many thanks go to all the coordinators, drivers, bochurim, and students of the 7th and 8th grade of Cheder Lubavitch who ensured such a wonderful Kiddush Hashem. Special recognition goes to R’ Yehuda Sugar who coordinates the permanent Mitzvah Tank and Mobile Library throughout the year.
