A private melave malka was recently held in the CU Cafe inside the Mimosa Condo in Miami Beach for the founders of Friends of Lubavitch of Florida.
The annual get together brought some 30 people who assisted and continue to support the work of Head Shliach Rabbi Avrohom Korf and the growing Chabad presence in the Sunshine State.
Heading the “Friends of Lubavitch” is developer Haim Wiener and co-chairs are Yossi Duchman and Motty Korf. They were joined by some 30 people at the Motzoei Shabbos affair.
While the dinner of the Lubavitch Educational Center in Miami is used to honor supporters, the Motzoei Shabbos affair is used to deliver the “Annual Report” of Chabad’s activities.
Over a delicious meal, catered by Mrs. Rina Kramer of CU Caterers, donors heard from Rabbi Korf about the incredible growth and development of Chabad centers, educational institutions and humanitarian initiatives.
He reported about the baal teshuva yeshiva, Miami Torah Experience, run by Rabbi Immanuel Storfer and Rabbi Yisroel Geisinsky and designed for college students seeking to learn and explore Judaism.
“The Rebbe called Miami the Jerusalem of the Diaspora (“Yerushalayim of chutz la’aretz”) and so it appears,” commented Count Elkaim who attended the evening with his wife.
“We had the privilege to be the original founders more than 30 years ago of Chabad in the State on Florida. At the time, there were only a handful of centers whereas b”H today there are 155.”
Elkaim asked to remind the public to continue saying Tehillim in merit of Rebbetzin Korf – Rivka bas Sara Basya for a speedy and full recovery.
