Chabad of Caulfield, led by Rabbi Yosef Yitzchak Gutnick, organized a Chanukah celebration for the Jewish community of Melbourne.
Thousands gathered in a local park for a Chanukah carnival and public Menorah lighting.
Among the participants were Mr. Michael Danby, an Australian federal parliament member and Jewish activist, and Helen Shardey, member of the Victorian parliament.
Rabbi Gutnick explained the meaning of Chanukah, and said that we have to light the world with the light of Chanukah, especially after the latest tragedy in Mumbai. Mr. Yechizkia Hertzog was honored with lighting the public Menorah.
The evening ended with a magnificent fireworks display.
Just don’t see the numbers. Why did yechezkel herzog light the menorah? Bigger kiddush hashem if they could do something at the Boxing Day Test.
