Keeping a class quiet in school is a challenge. Now, imagine having to keep a full crowd of adults and children silent during the reading of the Megillah.
A video is promising to help with that.
A Lubavitcher from Israel in cooperation with Chabad shluchim in Russia commissioned a Russian artist who specializes in drawing in sand to tell the story of Purim.
The result is a fascinating 24 minutes long screen shot of the artists’ hands moving back and forth as he outlines the story in ancient Persia when Mordechai and Queen Esther were faced with saving the Jewish people from Haman’s wicked decrees.
It was shown last year in a few communities and Chabad Houses as a pilot program and is offered this year for $45 (or $40 if purchsed in the next 2 days).
“It was an extraordinary success,” says Shmuel Brod, the initiator. “Following this great success, we’ve decided to market this program to the shluchim and institute directors all over the world.”
Brod said the purpose was to allow beginners and children who can’t follow the full reading of the megillah to experience the story in an enjoyable way, and at the same time to enable a complete silence in shul during the reading.

Wow! It would be even better if text can be added to each picture so that beginners can understand as well
The full version doesn’t have music.
the only problem is that i doubt the kids will have patience to sit and wait to see until every character is formed . it takes a while.
