Chabad of Talbiya, directed by Rabbi Eli and Chanie Canterman held its third annual event to celebrate Yud Tes Kislev, Rosh Hashana of Chassidus.
Geared for English speaking residents of Jerusalem, the event took place at The Great Synagogue on King George. Despite the tense and difficult times in Jerusalem at present, over 400 people turned up on the night.
The tone for the evening was set by well-known musicians Avi Piamenta, Mendy Portnoy Chemi and singer Yoni Shlomo, who rocked the shul with reverberating and uplifting niggunim.
With electricity in the air, we welcomed Daniel Taub, former Israeli Ambassador to the United Kingdom who revealed his deep connection to Chabad, and his being a descendant of the Alter Rebbe, sharing episodes of his experiences with Chabad around the world, and of how Chabad Chassidut has left an impact on his life.
The guest speaker was Rabbi Leibel Groner, the secretary of the Rebbe for over 40 years, who shared anecdotes of his life at the court of the Rebbe, interspersed with Chassidic insights.
