A special edition of its summer issue will bring Lubavitch International magazine to tens of thousands of Canada’s Jewish readers, for the first time. The edition will go into every one of the 34,000 copies of the Canadian Jewish News, bringing Lubavitch International’s total print run to 100,000, and a readership of at least 300,000.
The initiative was proposed by Rabbi Moishe New of the Montreal Torah Center and Rabbi Zalman Aharon Grossbaum of Chabad-Lubavitch Ontario. “Lubavitch International delivers a consistently professional publication. The writing is beautiful, thoughtful and uplifting. We wanted to share it with our fellow Jews across Canada,” Rabbi New explained.
The summer issue, with a back cover that features an updated global map of Chabad, includes a mix of informative news, articles and features that illustrate the Rebbe’s vision and the sweeping impact of his shluchim around the globe. Here readers will find well-researched stories about the marvel of the Gan Israel camp network, the best traveled teens in the world, an up-close and personal look at some of the Rebbe’s early baalei-teshuvah in an exclusive, first interview with Meir and Miriam Rhodes, reviews of books by Velvl Greene and Yaacov Brawer that shed light on how the Rebbe influenced the attitudes and lives of these scientists, and so much more.
“We are delighted that Rabbi New and Rabbi Grossbaum took the initiative so that the magazine will now reach a whole new demographic,” said Baila Olidort, editor-in-chief of Lubavitch International. “And we are especially grateful to the sponsors who realize the value of this publication to advance the work of the shluchim, and contributed the funds to enlarge our reach.”
Lubavitch International was founded in 1989 under the Rebbe’s aegis, and has grown and evolved over the last 30 years. “The Rebbe had a special regard for this publication,” said Rabbi Yehuda Krinsky. “He wanted to see it reach as many readers as possible, because, in his words, ‘Lubavitch International raises the prestige of all the shluchim.’”

Regarding Jeff Kronenberg’s letter to the editor regarding Susan Handelman’s article, what caught my attention is that he is from Boise, Idaho. In the early 60s, I was out there beginning my forest fire training in preparation to become a Smokejumper which I eventually did. I later became a Chabad Chossid, a licensed civil engineer and raised a Lubavitcher family in Crown Hts. That all started some 55 years ago, Baruch Hashem!
