Since the opening of the Lubavitch Kollel in London last year, the phenomenon of spreading Chasidus in the local area of Stamford Hill has been growing exponentially through the work of the Yungerleit.
Starting with individual Chavrusos and periodical Shiurim, this soon developed into a steady weekly Shiur; an outstandingly successful Bein Hazmanim program; and a weekly Kollel Erev.
Two weeks before Shavuos, signs went up in all the Shuls, reading, “R’ Yid! Are you ready for Matan Torah?” inviting the readers to come and learn Chasidus in the new Thursday night Chasidus Kollel.
Defying all expectations, a dozen Yungerleit showed up that Thursday night and stayed until after midnight to learn about Matan Torah in the light of Chasidus. Since then they have been coming each week bringing along their friends, by the end of the summer, twenty-five Yungerleit were coming to learn each week! This program is run by Rabbi Avremel Raskin and guided personally each week by Rabbi Levi Paris of the Lubavitch Yeshiva Ketana.
Following the Rebbe’s directives to utilize the days Chanuka for disseminating Chasidus, a plan was made to expand the weekly program into a nightly learning session for the duration of Chanuka.
Thanks to the generosity of Rabbi Chaim Yaakov Leibowitz of Jerusalem, the Chanuka program was an astounding success. A new Magid Shiur Rabbi Shimon Posen led the sessions, giving Shiurim and guiding the Yungerleit in learning the Ma’amar, many new faces were seen joining the crowd.
“It was an eye-opener,” said Yitzchak T. a regular at the Kollel who discovered for the first time the detailed and systematized Ma’amorim of the Rebbe Rashab. “A whole new world,” said Yosef R. who has been learning Chasidus for a few years. “It was great, now I could actually understand,” said Simcha F. who recently joined the regular program.
The Kollel are now looking to develop further Shiurim and programs of learning Chasidus and are looking for partners to support this work. If you are ready to sponsor a project or part thereof, please contact: Kollel@LubavitchUK.com or Avremler@gmail.com.
