Live: Groundbreaking for New Bais Rivkah Seminary Campus

Excitement is mounting for the groundbreaking ceremony of the brand new Bais Rivkah Seminary campus this Sunday, Gimmel Tammuz, to be held at the future location on Montgomery Street behind 310 Crown Street.

All are invited to attend the historic event on Sunday. The 1-hour program will include live music, video of the Rebbe, and a Siyum HaRambam. COLlive will live stream the event.

And groundbreaking it is–in more ways than one. “I have lived in Crown Heights for many years, and over the course of that time, there have been many projects around the neighborhood. But I cannot remember the last time a building of such magnitude and impact has gone up,” said Shimon Silverstein.

Indeed, the Rebbe’s backyard of Crown Heights is a teeming, bustling hive of activity with outsized impact. For all that activity though, it has been decades since such an ambitious project will have broken ground. And so, Sunday is an opportunity for the entire community to come together and mark this occasion, witnessing the beginning of what will IYH be a sprawling campus servicing hundreds of girls and bringing pride to the community, and the entire world of Lubavitch at large.

It is only fitting that such a monumental undertaking take place on the day of Gimmel Tammuz. As the Rebbe’s mossad catering to the education of Lubavitch girls, a groundbreaking that so dramatically expands its vision and scope is a holy undertaking set to be carried out on a holy day.

“Breaking ground to expand the Rebbe’s school brings to mind the groundbreaking of Campus Chomesh on Lefferts Ave. in 5748,” said Rabbi Avraham Shemtov, Chairman of the Board of Bais Rivkah. “Something special happened then: Though we had already visited the Rebbe earlier in the morning and received the Rebbe’s dollars and brachos, we were amazed to see the Rebbe personally stop by the groundbreaking on his way to the Ohel and hand me $470 towards the building, corresponding to the gematria of Rebbetzin Chaya Mushka’s name.”

Participants at the groundbreaking will be treated to unique new footage produced especially for the event of the Rebbe’s involvement with Bais Rivkah throughout the years, highlighting the importance and preciousness of this community organization. Additional footage will give the audience a glimpse into the daily goings-on of Bais Rivkah.

Just prior to applying shovel to dirt, a board member will demonstrate the project vision and roadmap to implementation. Thereafter, history will commence.
