Lights, camera, more lights, action!
There were lots of watts shining brightly on Jewish music superstar Lipa Schmeltzer as he filmed yet another music video, which the public has come to expect to be a sensation.
Accompanied by backup dancers, Lipa was seen doing his usual shtick in the event hall of Chovevei Torah in Crown Heights. Quirky glasses and flashy outfits were obviously part of the props.
And that was the goal, says the producer Danny Finkelman about the timing of the filming just before Thanksgiving which gives praise to G-d Almighty, as per President Abraham Lincoln.
“With all the tragic news lately, this music video will bring chayus and happiness to all,” he told COLlive.com, before joining himself in the dancing wearing an orange colored outfit.
Finkelman, whose Manhattan Beach home was destroyed during Superstorm Sandy, said the theme is about adapting the miracle of Chanukah to highlight miracles of our days.
“We saw miracles recently in Sandy, in the latest attacks in Israel and in our daily lives,” he said. “Nes gadol haya sham – What better way to express this than with the chanukah story?”
The title of the English song, written by Cecilia Margulies, is “Believe in Miracles.”
Shot in Crown Heights and in Manhattan, the upbeat clip will likely get you in a festive Chanukah mood. Figuring out what that structure with the fluorescent bulbs is, is another issue altogether.

How will this “music” affect our youth?

Lipa is a really nice guy with a generous heart and a talented composer and singer. However, he’s gone a bit too far with this “act” and it seems that even HE has lost touch with the Lipa that he was when he first set out to sing and compose Jewish Chassidishe music. He used sing aidel and fine music with chassidishe themes. I hope he changes his style and most importantly back to his true self, as a frum chassidishe talented singer that can inspire yidden especially very impressionable young jewish children to serve hashem by learning torah, doing… Read more »
