As Jews throughout Southern California prepare to celebrate Passover, a huge local distributor of Kosher meats has been stripped of its certification.
Doheny Glatt Kosher Meats is a wholesale supplier of Kosher products to merchants, restaurants, and caterers.
The company also has a retail market at their Pico Boulevard location where they sell directly to customers.
Doheny Glatt is accused of repacking Kosher meat boxes with USDA products that were not Kosher.
The Rabbinical Council of California sent out an email informing people that the meat bought before 3:00 p.m. on Sunday is still considered Kosher.

on my part, I dont trust chabad houses that have a hashgacha of the “head shliach” nor do I trust their mikvaos, but thats a separate topic.
you need a reliable rav, with an extremely yirei shamayim person to own a butcher shop.

If a qualified Rav out of extreme Chesed, finds a way to Kasher the meat, then he is saving souls. If he Poskins that it is Kosher, then it is Kosher. Consider also what is in jeapordy. Everyone’s Kaylim and kitchen equipment that have ever used Doheny Meat. My hat’s are off to the Rabbonim for doing their Jobs.
Can’t any of the chabad shluchim shecht for the Los Angeles chabad community or wider community??? Would that not solve the problem moving forward. Where next, new york, chicago, miami???? Chas vesholom

It’s not YOUR achrayos, it’s the Rabbonim who keep brushing these things under the rug & paskening treife is kosher. WE do what we should, let them have it on their consciences. I do agree a butcher must be a yiras shamayim. My father told me to only buy meat from a frum guy, a shomer Shabbos Yid when I got married & moved away. It’s very simple. Until 3pm you bought it with a hechsher, and have the right to assume that the package you bought was a kosher one, and not one of the treif ones that they relabeled. After 3pm the place had no hechsher, and the owner has lost his ne’emonus, so you had no right to buy there and you’re on your own achrayus.
This is the second offense for the owner of this store, he tried to pull the same thing 25 years ago!!!! Why was he given hashgacha again?!?!

How is meat bought before 3pm on Sunday considered Kosher when they have been under investigation for several months?? Makes more sense that the meat bought before 3pm on Sunday is NOT kosher!!
Please clarify that detail which doesn’t make any sense.

I just finished reading the book “Kosher Nation”. It is a fascinating book. What I learned from it is how often the kosher-keeping public likely has eaten non-kosher food simply because there is so much cheating of the kind described in this post going on – either that or simple carelessness.
So sad
Just shows how important it is to buy meat from a frum yid who you know. A hechsher is important but you must still trust the seller!
