The new Mivtzah Purim Center in Crown Heights, run by Lubavitch Youth Organization, was instrumental in sending out dozens of Lubavitchers on Purim day to bring joy and mitzvos to Jews around New York City.
Some 2,500 Mishloach Manos were given out by young and old. Some fathers brought their children along and some local shuls had organized Mivtzoim routes such as Bais Shmuel and Oihel Nosson.
“They visited senior homes, hospitals, apartment buildings and any Yid they met on the street,” the center’s director R’ Tzali Laufer told COLlive.com.
“Some went to read Megillah to a crowd of over 100 people and others went to meet just one Yid.”
The center also arranged a few Megilah readings in Crown Heights homes for people that had relatives visiting the neighborhood on Purim.
One COLlive reader related:
“I was on the 3 train on the way to mivtzoim. 3 young bochurim were also going to do mivtzoim when they saw a man who they suspected was Jewish.
“They asked him if he would like to hear the Megilla and he agreed. This guy was a sport. He was holding the bochur to support him from falling on the moving train and when Haman was heard he was banging his foot on the floor.”

very impressive bochurim on a train reading megila i can attest that it takes a lot of guts kudos to you!
In the last years it seemed that Mivtzoim were not such a priority, except for bochurim on Erev Shabbos. One did not see people going out on Mivtza Neshek, etc as much as in years past. Kudos to the organizers for revitalizing Mivtzoim and giving Crown Hts residents an opportunity to get involved in them.
We r so proud of u!
