Close to 30 Chabad Rabbis and Rebbetzins representing the 17 Chabad Centers across the Carolinas gathered together for a day of inspiration and chizuk.
In just a few months, Chabad of the Carolinas will mark 36 years since Rabbi Yossi and Mariashi Groner were sent by the Rebbe to bring Judaism to the Carolinas.
Chabad of Charlotte was founded in Kislev of 5740. At the time Jews in the Carolinas numbered less than 10,000. However, within 10 years, the Jewish population in Carolinas more than doubled and the number of Chabad Centers more than quadrupled. Chabad was founded in Columbia and Myrtle Beach, SC along with two additional centers in North Carolina.
The Shluchim welcomed the most recent additions, Rabbi Mendel Minkowitz to Chabad of Elon University, Rabbi Nosson Fellig to Duke University and Rabbi Sruli Epstein to Chabad of University of South Carolina.

Very well put. I know his uncle rabbi YD Groner from Australia had the same qualities as well as his father Rabbi L Groner who have the ability to admire someone else without feeling that it takes away from themselves. Hatzlacha to all.
Why is he so beloved by his Shluchim who have so much respect for him? Why does the Carolinas have probably more Shluchim for the amount of Yidden there than any other state? Why is there such achudus between that group? I have to earnestly give credit to its Head Shaliach They say that Rabbi Groner is the MODEL for what a Head Shaliach is . 1) A True Dugma Chaya of a Chassidish Yid with such humility and pure Emes- He is respectable… the # 1 criteria 2) He is always there and available for his Shluchim on anything… Read more »
Nice to be a part of the inception and growth. All y’all have so much to be proud of in your work carrying out the Rebbe’s vision and mission. May you continue ad bli dai!
The Hirshmeister from Pittsburgh Ir HaKodesh!
Beautiful, very impressive, Yasher Choach & Hatzlacha Rabba!
Reb Yossi & Maryashi Groner have much to be proud of. I remember well my Merkos Shlichus in 1978 to the Carolinas together with Reb Yossi. Even then he had the fire and Chassidisher ברען to bring the message of the Rebbe to the world in a big way!
May your Mosdos and Shlichus continue to grow and prosper without limitation,
Joshua Abrams
