The International Kinus Hashluchim, the annual convention for Chabad-Lubavitch rabbis, opened Wednesday night in Brooklyn’s Crown Heights section.
For many of them, coming from around globe for the 4 day conference, it is an opportunity to meet colleagues who are also close friends and share thoughts and feelings.
“He looks much better in real then through the computer,” Rabbi Chaim Azimov, Director of Chabad-Lubavitch of North Cyprus said about his friend Rabbi Mendel Druk, Director of Chabad-Lubavitch of Cancun in Mexico.
Over dinner served at the Jewish Children’s Museum, Azimov said they see each other once a year. And in the meantime, “I hear from a lot of people the impact he has on their lives.”
Other Shluchim seen catching up were Rabbi Mendel Cunin of Larchmont Village in Los Angeles and Rabbi Gidon Fox of the Pretoria Hebrew Congregation in South Africa.
Early participants of the Kinus got to tour the Agudas Chassidei Chabad Library adjacent to 770 Eastern Parkway where rare manuscripts and artifacts of the Lubavitch Rebbes were on display.
And while they were acquainting themselves, the offices of Merkos L’inyonei Chinuch were buzzing with activity preparing for a full day of workshops and sessions on Thursday which will be held at the Brooklyn Marriott Hotel.
Rabbi Moshe Kotlarsky and the dedicated Kinus staff will be there supervising and coordinating the proceedings with an eye on other logistical responsibilities which includes the group photo, a mass visit to the Rebbe’s Ohel, Shabbos and the gala banquet at Pier 12 in Brooklyn.

It fills my heart with awe and is so inspiring to see all these pictures, and to see how excited everyone is to see each other at the conference and to make new friends, or to show or teach their sons …. the old books look so interesting …. May you all be renewed with additional energy and education before the conference ends, which you can take home and use as Hashem guides you all.
