Two weeks after he was brutally murdered, a Jewish Yeshiva student in Ukraine was buried by his fellow classmates.
The family of 25 year-old Aryeh Leib Misinzov OBM, born in the Russian city of Chabarovsk, requested that a small funeral ceremony be held in Kiev.
Misinzov, who was buried as Menachem Mendel Aryeh Leib Leibovitch, was a student in the Chabad Yeshiva at the historic Brodsky Synagogue.
In recent months however, students said Misinzov left the Yeshiva and tried his luck in business. According to unconfirmed sources, he eventually got involved in organized crime.
Ukrainian police found pieces of Misinzov’s body in a suburb of Kiev. Sources said he was kidnapped and murdered by a gang member on April 20.
The gang leader was reportedly undergoing questioning by Kiev police.
1) Names – mother’s name (Jewish) vs father’s name (not Jewish) – very common situation in Ukraine and when bochurim go back to Yiddishkeit they take their Jewish mother’s last names sometimes.
2) He was a victim of a brutal crime gang and NOT anti-Semitism. I’ve been in this part of the world for a long time and I know the difference between the 2.

If his name was Arye Leib Misinzov (HY”D), why has he been buried under the name Leibovitz (on the placard at his kever)?
