What seemed to be the permanent closure of a staple Chabad publication due to financial difficulty has been averted – for now.
Kfar Chabad Magazine, the chassidic weekly in Hebrew and a mouth-piece for Lubavitch for over 30 years, will be printed again this week after a 5 week hiatus.
The decision was made by members of Beis Din Rabbonei Chabad in Israel who held a hearing on the matter with the paper’s founder and long-time editor Aharon Dov Halperin and its recently appointed CEO Yisroel Brod.
Halperin and Brod, while praising each other’s good intentions, had conflicting visions on how to revive the ailing weekly which has struggled over the past decade to compete against a thriving haredi media market.
Brod, a fundraising consultant, claimed that without a long-term business plan insuring financial stability the paper should not be published.
On the other hand, Halperin, who received detailed instructions from the Rebbe over the years, reported that 2 donors and a group of yungeleit are committed to assist (in the short-term) and that challenges should be faced as they arrive.
The hearing was held in the home of Kfar Chabad Rabbi Mordechai Shmuel Ashkenazi and was attended by Rabbi Yitzchok Yehuda Yaroslavsky of Kiryat Malachi, Rabbi Yochonon Gourarie of Holon and others.
They ruled that the magazine should resume publication, emphasizing that a chassidic publication should be read in Chabad homes on Shabbos.

If the Kfar Chabad wants to drastically increase their readership, they should open a large section within their magazine for the English reader.
There is a great thirst among Chabad English reading families, young and old, men, women and teens that would love to read an English Kfar Chabad.
If you look at most Lubavisher houses in the USA today, you will find all other frum magazine, for the lack of any other. There is no reason it should be this way.
There should be a genuine, good Chabad magazine for the English reading chasidher home.
Are you not bashing no 16 ? you cant pass a massage in a nice way ? if you would realy live moshiachdic you would not talk like that….
theres only 1 tochen

i love beis moshiach. in english and can understand. has variety of topics and always so interesting.
never ready the kfar chabad so x care
Many magazines have tochen the question is what sort of tochen. Beis Moshiach? Sorry man. My family isn’t looking for Jihadi inspiration. I think we’ll stick with the magazine that the Rebbe edited the Dvar Malchus, calle Kfar Chabad Magazine. And my wife can read Nshei Chabad, it’s in English.
Problem is that the new generation in America do not read it and if there is financial difficulties what does it help to meet with Rabbonim “for an approval” to print?! They need money not an approval…!!
Certainly there is more then we are being told, who is trying to close it down and why??
Please those who know should talk…..
We need the kfar Chabad. Which Mossad in Lubavitch operates exclusively thu an endowment?
we have the beis moshiach

anyone who has a littel mind understand thats the rebbe einyon and shofar keep your good work with lots of hazlocha
Anyone with a clear mind does not need an explanation that the Kfar Chabad is a must considering its tochen etc etc
A week that the Kfar Chabad was not published marked a lack of light and life. a person must be in the dark not realize the difference between the KC and all other weeklies.
Can someone translate the articles so us women in america can understand pls……………

In the year 5747 there were some Anash that complained to me that I write to strongly about “Shleimus Ha’Aretz”, and that the Rebbe is displeased. To me this sounded questionable, because from the Rebbe’s responses I understood that the opposite is true. Nevertheless I wrote about this to the Rebbe, and I did not receive a reply. That year, when I travelled to the Rebbe, and I passed by “Dollars” the Rebbe said to me: “I am going to the Ohel today, stand by my door, and I will give you Mashke.” When the Rebbe then handed me the… Read more »
I’m so happy this such a important magazine, its time we had something weekly in English as well
A Shliach
I humbly suggest that the two Chabad magazines make a “Yad Achas”.
Print both, tha kfar Chabad and the Bais Moshiach IN ONE.
Those who want to read one and not the other may do so.
Those who want to read both should do so.
V’sholonm al yisroel.
(One thing is for sure, both will save a lot of money).
Kfar Chabad has not been relevant for a while now and Lubavitch has learned to “survive” without it…
Whatever!
i believe the magazine’s board of directors hired brod in september 2009 as a last resort
BY WHO?? If he has conflicting views than Halperin, why and how was he appointed over a magazine which has been going on for years now.
Thw Rebbe showed us once again who is the REAL boss !
