JLI’s What’s on the Menu allows community members to pick their favorite topic, invite their friends, and enjoy an in-depth class led by their local Chabad rabbi.
In a Hakhel year of gathering, members at Chabad Houses worldwide are inviting their friends to topical Torah classes at their homes. The highly original What’s On The Menu program from JLI empowers community members to host engaging Torah classes on thirty-seven intriguing topics in their homes or offices.
Last year, Jonathan and Debbie Herskovitz invited fifteen friends to their home in Plano, Texas, for a class led by Rabbi Mendel Block, just three months after walking into Chabad of Plano for the first time. “None of my friends had ever been to Chabad,” Jonathan said, “they were skeptical, but Rabbi Block created a warm and welcoming environment, and they soon shifted their perspectives.”
For Rabbi Mendel Block, who directs Chabad of Plano, the program creates opportunities for deeper learning and new connections. “What’s On the Menu brings me to homes I’ve never been to before,” he says. “It creates a closeness between the host and the shliach, and I’ve met new people who are not yet comfortable walking into a Chabad House. I can’t recommend this enough.”
