Contender:
Shmuly Rimler 37, Married with 7 children.
Residence:
Scranton, PA.
Occupation:
Shochet at David Elliot Poultry Farm.
Musical Aspirations:
I developed a strong passion for chazzanus as a child growing up in a shul that would invite many great world renowned Chazzanim. Many of them saw my potential and urged me to get professional training, such as going to Israel to study at the Tel Aviv Cantorial Institute.. maybe one day.
Reality Check:
B”H life got in the way, so in the meantime I suffice with local training. I enjoy inspiring congregations especially on Yamim Noraim, blending chazzanus with singing everything from niggunim to Carlebach.
Favorite Singer:
There are different things I enjoy about most of the great singers, but those that shine are Yossele Rosenblatt, Zavel Kwartin, Moshe Koussevitsky, Avrohom Fried, Ohad Moskowitz.
Favorite Song:
I don’t have one favorite song. but if I had to give one it would be Veliyerushalayim Ircha (by Moshe Koussevitsky).
A Jewish Star:
I love singing and I’m glad I took a few moments to jump in on the fun. I hope this is only the beginning of a brilliant idea that will continue to improve in the years to come.
