My name is Thomas Carswell and I am a African American living in the South Bronx for 69 years. I welcome this culture of people returning back to the Bronx. I have many childhood memories of the Jewish population occupying the entire Grand Concourse and the kosher hot dogs. with potatoe salad on top. Also don’t forget the potato pancakes. I can go on and on with the Kasha Bow ties and Krepla. Feel free to contact me 917 488 1075

Is Your Shule Located on Walton Avenue?

Wishing you Rov Hatzlacha.

This is very exciting. My husband (who grew up in the South Bronx and then moved to Bronx proper) and I used to daven at what was then called, The Walton Ave. Shule located on Walton and Creston Avenues.

In the early 1970’s once the influx of non-Jews moved into the apartment building where we lived, there was a mass exodus of Yidden.

It is heartwarming to know that shluchim of the Rebbe, ZY’A are revitalizing the area.
