Ben Federman, a 26-year-old N.Y.-based entrepreneur, has decided to share some of his self-made fortune to restore thousands of hours of video and audio recordings of the Rebbe.
The grant will be used to preserve and restore footage of the Rebbe and release to the public hours of historic videos recorded at 770.
Federman said he wants everyone to have the opportunity to actually see the Rebbe’s love of all people, remarking also that he considers it a “solid investment” with a return right away and in the future.
The very generous donation (COLlive was asked not to disclose) will help cover the effort’s $4 million cost and will dedicate the Federman video collection.
Federman launched the website 1saleaday.com two years ago, which has experienced rapid growth, expanding into four other sub-sites.
This success enabled him to make this donation, which will honor the memory of his father, Yitzchok Leib Federman, who passed away when he was just a young boy, and the merit of his mother, Chedva.
The donation follows several government grants, including one from the National Endowment for the Humanities, benefitting the Living Archive and JEM.
JEM’s archive includes recordings of the Rebbe’s public addresses, community events, and footage of hundreds of thousands of people meeting the Rebbe during the distribution of ‘Sunday dollars’ in his later years.

keep that single malt on the table!
I work for his site and There is no way he gave more then $100,000,dont get me wrong that is alot of money, however jem needs a whole lot more to continue.
ben, best choice of your life…amazing productions including the very latest my land for children, it has not stoped playing since it was sliped out of the envelope.
Benny is a cousin to Shmotkins. In addition, Benny’s brother Asher married Henya (Elkana’s sister), shluchim in the Virgin Islands.
Oh please… Do you think he gave to Shmotkin or to restore the Rebbe’s footage so you, your children and grandchildren can see the Rebbe…
Moshiach now. V’nizke zich zehn…
JEM is the best – but dont stop donating, becouse they have masses of projects up their sleeves, and it gives u a chance to be a part of it!
is he shmotkin’s brother-in-law’s brother?
Ths article fails to mention that Federman and Shmotkin are first cousins. Not that it matters, as Tzedakah is Tzedakah regardless, but full disclosure would be nice.
stop counting everyone’s money. go say some tehillim better.
He did not give the whole thing, or near… although very significant. Jem needs alot more money to continue bringing to us and our children the Rebbe. They are from the most important mosdos to Chossid.
A close friend.
b”h they have a lot of$ now!
he gave the whole thing!
i doubt he gave the whole thing…so don’t stop to donate to JEM! a rock solid organization!
he must have given enough to cover the $4 million!! 😉
